Year 2013, October 20, Sunday.

Marmot the Gardener log, entry two:

First 14 days passed. The garden looks fine. Timer finally works and automatically switches the lights on/off in preset time.

Pomegranate trees sprig wildly; garden balsam shoots showed first real leaves; dill sprouts.

Cyclamen and tomatoes are idle. Considering planting second load of the seeds.

 

To meet main beneficiary’s demand for green, 2 medium size lüluos (绿萝, Epipremnum aureum, taro vine) were purchased to sit on the upper shelf. In China they plant it successfully in darkness and cold.  Will see how it will survive on top of the vertical garden.

Comments from main beneficiary: “Oh, now it does look green!”.

Marmot the Gardener log, entry one:

In-house vertical garden finally launched. The project bears the classical features of mega projects:

–      Planning stage was lengthy – two years and included negotiations with stakeholders and main beneficiary (aka the Husband).

–      Costs and time for implementation were underestimated.

–      Project design was changed 2 times during installation works.

–      Expendable materials (pots) were not purchased in the quantity needed.

Despite the troubles associated with this enterprise, the shelves with lights were successfully installed on October 6. They were populated with:

1)     3 pomegranate trees (came from Vladivostok)

2)     1 kalanchoe (inherited from previous tenants of the apartment)

3)     1 pot with garden balsam

4)     1 pot with dill

5)     1 pot with tomato

6)     3 pots with cyclamens.

Китайский национальный музей

Не прошло и пяти лет в Пекине, как мы добрались до Китайского национального музея.

Музей расположен прямо на площади Тяньаньмэнь, напротив дворца заседаний Собрания народных представителей (Дома народных собраний). Он был на реконструкции 3.5 года и открылся только в начале 2011.

В общем, мы собирались долго! Когда наконец дошли, то обнаружили, что доступ в него бесплатный, но билет выдают по паспорту (для иностранцев, китайцы могут пройти по списку других документов). Тут не Москва, так что паспорта мы с собой не носим, но в тот день он был с собой у Дениса по стечению обстоятельств. А то бы пришлось нам уходить восвояси.

Внутри музей огромен, коллекции выставлены явно даже не наполовину. Нас хватило только на подвал и на то, чтобы сделать вывод, что идти туда нужно, имея в голове определенный интерес. Иначе, несмотря на яркие экспонаты и использование самых передовых мультимедийных технологий для пояснений к ним, в голове хаос, внимание рассеивается тут же и накатывается нереальная усталость.

Из-за этого выкладываем фото без пояснений - сил разобраться что это за демоны на первой фотографии и какие ритуалы изображают скультуры на второй не было.

Пойдем еще раз разбираться!
